The Borough of Poole has welcomed the opportunity to work in partnership with service providers to identify local needs and work towards solutions to effect the delivery of the National Drugs Strategy at a local level. A Drug Action Team Co-ordinator and Joint Commissioning Officer have been appointed to support the Drug Action Team and to develop and commission services to meet the needs of local people. By working with partner organisations a nember of new developments are being implemented:

Work is taking place with the Primary Care Trust and GP's to introduce a system of shared care. Pharmacists are working with the DAT to provide supervised consumption and general health advice. A programme of Hepititis B vaccinations is being introduced through the specialist service.

A Families Support worker is available to provide support to children under 10 years old, who have a parent, carer or sibling that misuse substances.

Supported Accommodation is now available to PACT clients. Access is available to throughcare and aftercare provision

The DAT is committed to continue to work to meet the needs of the people of Poole through the provision of a wide range of treatment and supporting services. Work is taking place with the Bournemouth and Dorset DAT's to introduce 'Models of Care' across the County. Work is taking place to engage clients from GLB and other underserved communities.

Information on local service provision is available in a number of ethnic minority languages and is available at local libraries.
